Description:

This course resumes and perpetuates all aspects of urogenital manipulations initiated and developed by Jean-Pierre Barral for 40 years.

The program is largely based on the book, of which Olivier Bazin is co-author, entitled "Visceral Manipulations for Female Pelvic Disorders" (Barral Productions-2020).

Every day many patients come to visit their osteopath or physical therapist for problems whose origins are sometimes very far from the symptom evoked. In fact, the symptoms are related to functional disorders of their urogenital system. These patients have been shown to be successfully treated with the finesse and specificity of the manual approach of Osteopathy.

Nowadays more and more often, the reason for consultation is immediately related to the pelvic sphere, such as micturition disorders, menstrual pain, pudendal neuralgia, or fertility disorders. Patients have seen that osteopathy is successful in helping people with these major disorders, and patients are looking for therapists who can help them.

This course is intended for osteopaths and physical therapists who want to improve their initial training, and for any experienced therapists wishing to update their skills for the management of functional disorders related to the urogenital system.

The urogenital sphere is complex; it requires great specificity in palpation and requires solid anatomical knowledge. This is the reason why, during this course, a brief review of anatomy and biomechanics corresponding to the zone or organ studied will be given. The primary focus of the course will be the clinical application and hands-on practice that will be developed to establish a manual evaluation based on palpation, listening and clinical symptoms, leading to a treatment protocol.

This course will not only present ligament manipulations, but will also teach the advanced techniques of viscoelasticity, neural and vascular manipulations.

NB: During this course, many techniques will be presented both externally and internally. For the internal techniques, the endopelvic approach will be clearly exposed in a theoretical way first, and a time slot will be reserved for practice.
It is an advantage if the participants are ready to accept internal treatment on themselves, but is not a demand. It is allowed to bring your own model and also to leave the room during these practises.

The course is taught in English.
