Weekend Course with Sylvie Lessard
Friday 25th 3-9pm
Saturday 26th 9am-6pm
Sunday 27th 9am-5pm
of November 2016
This course covers specific techniques and emphasizes the need to treat the infant in its globality to harmonize body systems and promote optimal well being. We will address the complexity of plagiocephaly, torticollis and associated conditions in relation to motor development.
More and more parents consult osteopaths for their infants presenting plagiocephaly and other cranial asymmetries. As the opportunity to achieve a maximum recovery decreases with time, we face the challenge to encourage the best results with as few interventions as possible (to be cost and time effective).
You will learn about severity assessment scales, measurement tools and techniques most significant in pediatric osteopath clinical reality. A strong intrarater reliability has been establish for anthropometric measurements1. In addition, accurate measurements will facilitate early diagnosis and keep track of cranial asymmetry evolution.
Understanding the complexity of plagiocephaly will help monitor progress, facilitate communication with medical teams and guide decision making through an objective view of the global condition. It will facilitate clinical management and provide you with great insight to share information with parents and medical team.
